What do I need to know about transporting my pet in the hold?

Réponse

The transport of your animal is not included in the hold baggage allowance. This requires a reservation for him.
Any animal weighing more than 7 kg with its container must travel in the hold. Beyond 50 kg, cage included, it will have to be transported via freight.

Your animal must be placed in a rigid plastic cage without wheels, approved for air transport. He must be at least 2 months old and must have a microchip.

A health certificate less than 5 days old is required at check-in (for Abidjan, the rabies certificate and health certificate must be dated at least 3 days before departure).

Baggage allowance

Per animal, you will have to pay the amount of :

  • Eur 150 (218/228 CAD) per leg between Paris and Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, Mayotte or Reunion island.
  • Eur 300 (440 CAD) per leg between Paris, Montreal, Madagascar, Mauritius island or Abidjan.
  • The maximum authorised weight of the animal and its container is 50 kg
  • In case of overtaking your pet will have to travel by Freight. Click here to learn more about Freight.

Conditions of carriage :

Your pet must be placed in a rigid plastic cage without wheels, approved for air transport.
Metal cages are prohibited.
Your pet's cage should be as solid as possible and show no signs of deterioration: even the slightest crack, missing pieces (etc...), otherwise, it will be systematically refused at check-in.
For safety reasons, we recommend that you observe the following rules:

  • The cage must be securely assembled (e. g. lock closing)
  • The cage must be made of glass fibre or rigid plastic only, there must be a central locking system (so that the animal does not escape)
  • Prefer metal doors to plastic doors (these can be easily chewed / bent / deformed by the animal).
  • The stronger doors have 4 metal rods that attach the door to the cage. Ensure that the door lock mechanism is strong and efficient
  • No wheels: Corsair will refuse all cages on wheels If the body has wheels, they must be removed. If they are retractable, they must be secured with adhesive tape.
  • The door must have a central locking system that simultaneously locks the 2 locking points located at the top and bottom of the door.
  • The hinges of the door must extend at least 1.6 cm beyond the horizontal edge located above and below the door.
  • Both parts of the hull must be secured by bolts. Any other lateral locking system is strictly prohibited.
  • The animal must be able to stand upright, with its head completely upright, without touching the top of the body. It must also be able to turn around and lie down comfortably.
