Gastronomie martiniquaise

Martinican Gastronomy

Martinican cuisine is simple and generous. The result of the fusion of all the peoples who have stopped there, it is diverse and flavorful, enriched by African, French, and Indian influences (such as colombo).

Mainly based on seafood, Martinican dishes often share the characteristic of marinating meat or fish in a seasoning (often made with Caribbean peppers) to enhance their flavor. Cassava flour is also widely used.

Blood sausage, accras, avocado féroce, and grilled fish are of course among the island’s culinary specialties. Rum is also the traditional drink of the archipelago, and you can uncover all its secrets by visiting one of the many distilleries on the island!

Carnival is the must-see Creole celebration in Martinique. Held in February, it lasts several days, during which you can admire colorful parades as joy and festivity spread across the island. Visitors enjoy the songs and dance competitions set to omnipresent, lively music (zouk, biguine, calypso).
