What is a connecting flight (or in transit)?
Unlike a direct flight, a connecting flight involves changing aircraft.
A direct flight is operated under a single flight number. In contrast, a connecting flight has two distinct flight numbers, one for each segment, and requires you to change planes. During your stopover, you will proceed to the transit area to board a new aircraft, operated by Corsair or one of our partner airlines.
Tips for a smooth connecting flight
Follow our recommendations to ensure your journey runs smoothly, from departure airport to transit airport.
When booking, allow sufficient connection time to cover potential delays, administrative formalities or terminal transfers.
At your departure airport
At check-in
- Corsair streamlines check-in formalities for connecting flights with our partner airlines.
- Depending on your itinerary, you will either:
- be checked in for your entire journey (Corsair flight + connecting flight), or
- be asked to collect your second boarding pass during your stopover.
Our staff will explain the procedure at check-in.
Your baggage
- Baggage check-through to final destination is possible in certain cases.
- If not, you will need to collect and re-check your baggage at the transit airport.
At your transit airport
- All passengers must disembark with their boarding pass and transit pass.
- Follow the “Connection” or “Transfer” signage in the airport.
- Check the information screens to confirm your departure gate and follow the directions.
- You will need to go through:
- Immigration control,
- Security screening.
Points to note
- You must pass through security screening again at airports not recognized by the DGAC (French Civil Aviation Authority), particularly for combined flights outside the EU (e.g., Mauritius → Réunion → Paris Orly).
- Beware of prohibited items in cabin: liquids purchased duty-free on the first flight may be confiscated at the second screening.
Baggage handling on connecting flights
- On a connecting journey, baggage is checked through to final destination, provided the transit occurs on the same day.
- For example, a connection on two Corsair-operated flights — Fort-de-France → Paris → Abidjan — allows continuous baggage check.
Special case – Orly 4 Airport
- If both flights are operated solely by Corsair, up to a 24-hour transit is permitted.
- Note: if your transit includes an overnight stay (e.g., arrival on September 1 and departure on September 2), you must collect and re-check your baggage before your second flight.
