Traveling Comfortably with a Pet
How to add your pet to your booking?
To add a cat or a dog to your booking, you can do so directly from the "My Booking" section. However, if you wish to travel with another type of animal (such as a rodent, bird, etc.), please contact our customer service, who will assist you and check the applicable transport conditions.
Some Tips Before Your Flight
To ensure your pet travels in the best conditions, please follow these tips:
- Before the flight, avoid leaving your pet in your car’s trunk for too long. Let them exercise just before being placed in the carrier at boarding.
- Feed your pet 4 to 6 hours before departure to prevent their digestion from occurring during the flight.
- Don’t forget to give them water right before departure to avoid dehydration during the flight.
- We recommend not giving any medication or tranquilizers without veterinary advice. Line the bottom of the carrier with an absorbent material—such as a blanket or small mattress.
- Consider placing an item of your clothing in the carrier; your scent will help reduce your pet’s stress during the journey.
Your pet must remain in its carrier for the entire duration of the flight and is your full responsibility.
If you have any doubts or if your pet is not listed here, please contact our customer service.
General Conditions for Transporting a Pet
In Cabin
Of course! Here’s a balanced version: a smooth text with a few well-placed bullet lists to break up the reading without weighing it down.
Cabin Pet Transport
You may travel with one pet in the cabin, under your responsibility for the entire flight. Its presence must be notified no later than 72 hours before departure via a dedicated booking.
The pet must:
- be at least 2 months old,
- be microchipped.
It is not included in your cabin allowance. Specific fees apply per journey:
- €75: between Paris and Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, Réunion or Mayotte,
- €150: between Paris and Montreal, Madagascar or Africa.
Transport of pets to or from Mauritius is prohibited.
If you are traveling with another person who also has a pet, the two pets must be separated on board for safety reasons. Cabin pet transport is also prohibited for unaccompanied minors, and emotional support animals are not accepted.
Transport Conditions
Your pet must travel in a regulation-approved carrier closed for the entire flight. The carrier must:
- have a secure locking system and ventilation holes,
- comply with maximum dimensions: 115 cm total (length + width + height),
- fit under the seat in front of you.
The total weight (pet + carrier) must not exceed 8 kg. If exceeded, the pet must travel in the hold.
A health certificate dated within 5 days is required at check-in. For flights to Abidjan, both the health and rabies certificates must be dated at least 3 days before departure.
From Orly, Pointe-à-Pitre or Fort-de-France, you may purchase an approved carrier on site for €50 (price subject to change without notice).
Only mice, hamsters and guinea pigs may be transported at a rate of 2 animals per cage.
Special Case: Guide Dogs
Guide dogs for the visually impaired are admitted free of charge in cabin, provided that they:
- do not occupy a seat,
- remain on leash throughout the flight,
- are booked no later than 48 hours before departure.
Mandatory Form
Every passenger traveling with a pet in cabin must complete a specific form, print it and present it at check-in.
Would you also like a print-ready version or formatted for integration into a website or brochure?
In Hold
Transporting a pet in the hold is not included in your baggage allowance and requires a prior reservation.
Any pet whose weight (including its container) exceeds 8 kg must travel in the hold. If this weight exceeds 50 kg, it must be shipped via cargo.
The pet must be placed in an approved, rigid, non-wheeled crate designed for air transport. It must be at least 2 months old and microchipped.
A health certificate dated within 5 days is required at check-in. For flights to Abidjan, a rabies certificate and a health certificate dated at least 3 days before departure are mandatory.
Pet transport in the hold is prohibited on routes from Paris to Mauritius.
Applicable Fees
Transport fees apply per pet, per journey:
- €150: between Paris and Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, Mayotte or Réunion.
- €300: between Paris and Madagascar, Abidjan, and from Mauritius to Paris.
The total weight (pet + crate) must not exceed 50 kg. Beyond this, cargo transport is compulsory.
Transport Conditions
Metal crates are prohibited. Any crate showing defects (cracks, missing parts, visible damage) will be refused at check-in.
To ensure the safety of both the pet and the flight, the following requirements must be met:
- The crate must be solidly assembled with a centralized locking system securing all latches at both the top and bottom of the door.
- It must be made of fiberglass or rigid plastic and without wheels (if present, wheels must be removed or taped).
- Metal doors are highly recommended for greater strength.
- The safest doors have four metal bars anchoring the door to the crate.
- The locking mechanism must be reliable.
- Hinges must extend at least 1.6 cm beyond the top and bottom edges.
- The shell must be fastened with bolts (clips or other side fastenings are not allowed).
- The pet must be able to stand without touching the top, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
It is possible to transport two pets in the same crate if:
- Each pet weighs no more than 14 kg (28 kg total).
- They are accustomed to cohabiting.
Specific Conditions for Crates Accepted by Corsair
To be accepted in the hold, your pet’s crate must strictly comply with the following standards:
- Centralized locking system: the door must lock simultaneously at the top and bottom with a single mechanism.
- Reinforced hinges: they must extend at least 1.6 cm beyond the horizontal edges above and below the door.
- Bolt assembly: the two halves of the shell must be held together exclusively by bolts. Any other side fastenings (clips, latches, plastic screws, etc.) are strictly prohibited.

Any crate not meeting these requirements will be refused at check-in. Corsair does not accept:
- metal crates,
- damaged crates (cracks, missing parts, visible wear),
- crates with wheels that have not been removed or secured,
- side-latching systems other than bolts.

Additional Information
- Corsair does not sell crates for hold transport, including at Paris departures.
- It is possible to transport two pets in one crate provided they are from the same litter, used to cohabiting, and each weighs no more than 14 kg (maximum 28 kg total).
- The maximum total weight for hold transport (pet + crate) is 50 kg. Above this, cargo transport is mandatory.
Mandatory Reservation
Transporting a pet, whether in cabin or in hold, is a paid service requiring advance reservation. To secure your pet’s transport, you must notify Corsair at least 72 hours before your flight’s departure.
