Unaccompanied children

Before your child travels alone, please review our specific conditions for unaccompanied minors to ensure compliance on the day of travel:

  • An infant must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old (one infant per adult allowed).
  • A child under 12 years old who is not registered as UM (unaccompanied minor) may only travel if accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
  • Legal guardians must ensure the child meets all the requirements for exiting the territory and entering the destination country.
  • Since 26 June 2012, European regulations require all travellers, children and adults alike, to hold their own identity document to leave the European Union. Depending on the destination, this may be a passport or an identity card. It is no longer possible to add a child to a parent’s passport.
  • Please note: the family record book (livret de famille) is not a valid identity document and cannot be used for air travel.

Age-appropriate support

At Corsair, we have implemented specific procedures to ensure a safe and worry-free journey for unaccompanied minors (UM – *Unaccompanied Minor*), tailored to their age and needs.

Booking for unaccompanied minors

  • It is not possible to book a ticket for a child under 12 travelling alone on our website. All such bookings must be made through our customer service.
  • Unaccompanied minors (UM) are only accepted on flights operated by Corsair.
  • Promotional fares do not apply to UMs. A specific fare is required for this service.

Age-based supervision requirements

Mandatory UM (ages 4 to 11)

  • Children under 4 may not travel alone, even with UM service. They must be accompanied by a competent adult.
  • Children aged 4 to 11 inclusive may travel alone with mandatory UM service.
  • A surcharge of €50 per journey per child applies for this service.

Optional UM (ages 12 to 17)

  • For youths aged 12 to 17, UM service is optional. Parents may request it if they want the same level of care as younger children.
  • A surcharge of €75 per journey per youth applies.

Also verify police and exit‐territory formalities for minors according to the destination country.

Medical requirements and self‐sufficiency

An unaccompanied minor must be autonomous and in good health. No medical treatment can be administered on board by crew. If treatment is required during the flight, the child must be able to take it without assistance. Failure to meet this requirement may result in denial of boarding.

On the day of departure

At check-in

  • The person accompanying the child must complete a liability waiver, providing their contact details and those of the person responsible for meeting the child at the destination.
  • This procedure must be repeated for the return flight.
  • The unaccompanied minor transport request form must be completed in three copies and handed to the check-in agent.

At boarding

  • A Corsair agent escorts the child through security, customs and police formalities.
  • The child is boarded as a priority and entrusted to the Lead Cabin Crew Member, who will accompany them for the duration of the flight.

On board

Cabin crew pay special attention to unaccompanied minors:

  • Seated near an adult, with a paper marker placed above the seat for easy identification.
  • Priority service of a hot meal tailored to children’s tastes (served with cereal, dried fruit, dairy products, and mineral water).
  • Distribution of an age-appropriate activity kit and cartoons for in-flight entertainment.
  • During school holidays, feature-length animated films are also offered.
  • Crew members escort the child to the restroom if needed and reassure them throughout the flight.

Important: the person accompanying an unaccompanied minor must remain at the airport until the aircraft’s departure. Animals are not permitted in the cabin for unaccompanied minors.

On arrival

  • The Lead Cabin Crew Member hands the child over to a ground agent, who escorts them through arrival formalities and to the person designated in the waiver.
  • The child will only be released to that person. In case of an issue (absence or mismatched identity), Corsair will contact the provided emergency contact.
  • If the designated person cannot be reached or identified, the child will be rebooked on a return flight. Any costs related to waiting and return (accommodation, meals, transport) will be charged to the parents or legal guardians.

Booking a ticket for an unaccompanied minor

There are two options:

  • Book online via the dedicated page for unaccompanied minors.

Unaccompanied minor not travelling with a parent

Minors travelling abroad (Mauritius, West Africa) without their mother, father or legal guardian must present three documents at check-in and immigration control:

If the child’s parents are EU nationals:

  • Valid identity document for the minor (and visa if required by destination).
  • Photocopy of a valid identity document of the signing parent (ID card, passport or residence permit).
  • Parental authorisation form signed by a parent with parental authority.

If the child’s parents are non-EU nationals:

  • Valid identity document for the minor (and visa if required by destination).
  • Photocopy of a valid identity document of the signing parent (ID card, passport, valid residence permit, or refugee/stateless travel document).
  • Parental authorisation form signed by a parent with parental authority.

AUTHORIZATION TO LEAVE THE TERRITORY

Please note: an exit authorization is not required for unaccompanied minors on flights to the French overseas departments (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte or Réunion), unless the itinerary includes a stopover in a foreign country.

For more information, visit the Service-Public website and download the exit authorization form if required.
