The Indian Ocean in a few words
While the Indian Ocean as a whole refers to the vast body of water stretching over 75,000,000 km² from Africa to Australia, the destinations served by Corsair are located in its western part, off the eastern coast of Africa.
This geographic area includes the islands of Madagascar, Mayotte, Réunion, Mauritius, the Seychelles, the Comoros archipelago, and Rodrigues Island.
It is home to approximately 23,820,000 inhabitants and encompasses 594,500 km² of land area.
Climate
The islands of the Western Indian Ocean experience a humid tropical climate. Temperatures are warm all year round (average: 23°C). There is no winter, but rather a dry season (from May to October, with temperatures around 23 to 25°C and low rainfall) and a rainy season (from November to April, with warmer temperatures between 27 and 32°C accompanied by rain).
However, variations in terrain and exposure to sea winds lead to noticeable climate differences between the islands of the archipelago.
Lastly, the region is partially exposed to seasonal cyclones, which typically occur between January and March.
Stopover in Paris
A stopover in Paris during a flight from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean is an exceptional opportunity to discover the City of Light. Take advantage of this break to visit iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Champs-Élysées, while enjoying delicious French cuisine. With its many museums and shops, Paris turns a simple stopover into a memorable cultural experience.
