The conditions for transporting special baggage apply exclusively to flights operated by CORSAIR. For any flight operated by another airline, please contact them directly to learn about their specific policies. The following items are considered special luggage:

  • Checked baggage whose dimensions (L + W + H) exceed the airline’s standard allowance (158 cm). This includes items such as sports equipment, bicycles, kiteboards, or surfboards.

  • Fragile baggage.

  • Baggage containing perishable goods.

Transport of special baggage may be included in the checked luggage allowance (see conditions below) or may be subject to an additional charge beyond the authorized allowance.

    Sports Equipment

Corsair allows you to travel with the following sports equipment :

    • golf bag,
    • bicycle,
    • windsurf/surfboard,
    • skis,
    • kitesurf,
    • skysurf,
    • windsurf,
    • longboard,
    • diving equipment,
    • fishing rod,
    • pole, etc.

They must be transported in separate containers.

Here are the guidelines to follow when traveling with sports equipment:

    • Surfboards, windsurfing boards, kitesurf, windsurf, etc., will be transported in a separate container from your baggage allowance for a maximum weight of 32 kg and a maximum length of 300 cm.

    • Diving equipment will be transported in a separate container from your baggage allowance for a maximum weight of 20 kg. Cylinders must be emptied, uncapped, and placed in checked baggage. Diving torches can travel in the cabin if they are disconnected from their heat source. Batteries, bulbs, and accumulators must be transported in checked baggage. The diving bag must contain a maximum of one wetsuit, one buoyancy compensator, one mask, shoes, fins, a knife, and a regulator.
    • Fishing rods will be transported in a separate container from your baggage allowance for a maximum weight of 12 kg in a tube. Beyond 1.5 m, check-in will be at the oversized baggage counter.
    • Ski equipment will be transported in a separate container from your baggage allowance for a maximum weight of 23 kg (for a maximum of 2 authorized pieces). Skis and poles must be securely fastened together. Sharp edges should be padded to prevent damage to the aircraft's cargo hold walls (accepted equipment: alpine ski, snowboard, water ski).
    • Sports or hunting weapons and their ammunition: these items are accepted in checked baggage, provided the following instructions are strictly adhered to: upon check-in, these items must be declared and accompanied by authorization to possess a weapon (hunting permit or shooting license) and proof of ownership. Our ground staff must have easy access to the contents of this baggage to verify its weight and contents. An X-ray inspection of this baggage will be performed.
    • Golf bags will be transported free of charge in a separate container from your baggage allowance for a maximum weight of 20 kg (this free baggage is in addition to your checked baggage allowance, meaning free transport of your equipment + your checked baggage allowance).

The sports equipment mentioned above can be transported free of charge and included in your fare class baggage allowance in lieu of the included checked baggage, if the sports equipment concerned respects the maximum authorized weight of your fare class baggage allowance (23 kg in Economy and Premium classes and 32 kg in Business class) and/or the authorized dimensions mentioned above.

Please note that longboards cannot be included in your fare class baggage allowance in lieu of the included checked baggage. Therefore, you will have to pay an additional fee per journey, regardless of your destination.

    • In checked baggage : musical instruments must be transported in a rigid case and must not exceed 158 cm. For any instrument larger than 300 cm or weighing more than 32 kg, prior approval from our customer service is required.
    • In the cabin : their dimensions must not exceed 115 cm and they replace the cabin baggage allowed with your ticket.

If it is an additional piece of luggage (in addition to the luggage included according to the fare class), you will be charged extra for it. All-inclusive prices are indicated when you book and are subject to tariff changes.

To book your musical instrument, please contact our customer service at 3917 or visit one of our agencies.

    Sharp objects

These objects are accepted in checked baggage without prior request, provided certain mandatory guidelines are followed. They must be disassembled as much as possible, packed in suitable, padded, resistant packaging that effectively protects the items and prevents damage to other luggage or injury to handling personnel.

    Oversized baggage

If your checked baggage exceeds the total regulatory size (total H + W + L greater than 158 cm), you will have to pay an additional fee as indicated below, to be paid only at the airport on the day of departure.
This additional fee applies to all types of checked baggage : those included in the checked baggage allowance, acquired through the LeClub Corsair loyalty program, or purchased as additional baggage. It only applies to flights operated by Corsair.
Dimensions and weight of oversized checked baggage : your baggage must be between 159 cm and 300 cm (total H + W + L). At La Réunion Saint-Denis airport, a maximum height/width of 90 cm and a length not exceeding 3 m will be required. Please note

    • This service is non-refundable and non-transferable.
    • This service is modifiable and eligible only on flights operated by CORSAIR.
    • This service is limited to 9 bags per passenger, basic allowance included. Please note : on the Corsair website you can only purchase 4 additional bags. Once purchased, they will not be refundable and you will not be able to add new additional bags.
    • This service cannot be purchased in the following cases :
      • Babies under 2 years old.
      • The transport of animals (in the cabin or in the hold). A special fare is dedicated to animals.
      • The transport of sports equipment for which a specific fare applies.

For medical equipment (respiratory devices or other equipment), you must request prior authorization from the airline. This is because some equipment contains "hidden" dangerous goods not permitted in the cabin. (Click here for the list.)

    Medication treatments

If you need to take medication on board, remember to pack it in your cabin baggage. It must be accompanied by the medical prescription with the exact name of the medication. Please inform the staff upon your arrival on board.

In the case of medical treatment requiring syringes (such as insulin treatment, etc.), European cabin baggage regulations require you to present the named prescription from the treating physician at the airport security counter.

This prescription must attest to the passenger's need to keep the syringes in the cabin, detail all treatment components carried during the journey (outbound flight, stay, and return flight), and mention all medications, including those with a less frequent renewal schedule.

For the transport of your vaccines or medication, you must bring YOUR OWN INSULATED BAG for refrigeration; our on-board staff will not take responsibility for their preservation.

    Equipment for disabled persons

If you are a disabled person or a person with reduced mobility and require specific assistance during transport and at the airport, you must inform us at the time of your reservation and no later than 48 hours before the published departure time of your flight.

If you are transporting mobility equipment (e.g., wheelchair, assistance dogs), you must also inform Corsair at the time of your reservation and no later than 48 hours before the published departure time of your flight. Furthermore, if you wish to travel with an assistance dog, you must ensure its compliance with the health requirements of the country of departure and destination, as well as its identification (tag, harness).

Corsair will transport free of charge in the hold, in addition to the baggage allowance, two pieces of mobility equipment (wheelchair, walker) as well as one piece of medical equipment, subject to sufficient space on board the aircraft and without prejudice to the application of legislation relating to dangerous goods.

You can choose to transport a wedding dress in the hold instead of a suitcase, or an additional suitcase reserved or purchased in advance. Please note that no reservation is needed for the transport of your wedding dress.
