Before Your Flight from Bordeaux to Saint-Denis

When Should You Book a Flight from Bordeaux to Saint-Denis?

Like all tropical islands, Réunion Island has two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The rainy season, which runs from November to May, is best avoided. January and February carry a high risk of cyclones, which could disrupt your plans.
The dry season, from June to October, is the ideal time to visit. You might even get the chance to witness the unforgettable sight of whales and calves along the Réunion coastline from August to October! It’s also the perfect season for breathtaking hikes. Grab your backpack and your courage, and set off to explore the Piton de la Fournaise—thrills guaranteed! But be careful: never go hiking alone—always go with a professional guide.
That said, if rainy weather doesn’t bother you, visit on December 20th to experience “Fèt Kaf,” a commemorative celebration marking the abolition of slavery. This cultural event is held in every commune on the island with traditional songs, dances, and readings.

What Are the Requirements Before Your Flight from Bordeaux to Saint-Denis?

If you’re drawn to hiking, proper walking gear will be essential. Be sure not to forget anything: hiking shoes, backpack, lightweight clothing, windbreaker, rain gear, and a cap! You’ll be fully equipped to conquer the peaks!
Even if you’re traveling during the rainy season, don’t forget to bring sunscreen. No matter the time of year, UV rays can still get through the clouds—you don’t want to end up with a sunburn!
Planning your itinerary is key. Scout out the paths you’ll take to reach waterfalls or mountain cirques. We also recommend booking your accommodation in advance, especially during the dry season. Réunion is a highly popular tourist destination, and places can fill up quickly.
