What are the general rules for transporting dogs and cats?

Your pet must be at least 2 months old and have a microchip.

You must check the phytosanitary requirements of the country of destination and transit.

Phytosanitary requirements

All your pet's vaccinations must be up-to-date and effective, and you must present a rabies certificate from your veterinarian on the day of your departure for registration:

  • A certificate of less than 1 year and more than 1 month old.*
  • A tattoo or microchip identification certificate, your pet's health booklet or passport,
  • A certificate of good health less than 5 days old at the date of travel**. If your stay exceeds 15 days, this certificate must be issued by the veterinary services of the country of destination (included in the passport, for intra-Community travel, including to and from the French overseas departments).
  • The transport discharge for live animals to be downloaded and filled in 2 copies :

 

*This document is no longer required for travel to/from Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre, Mayotte and Reunion Island. For Abidjan, the rabies certificate must be dated at least 3 days before departure. 

**For Abidjan, the health certificate must be dated at least 3 days before departure.

Important : For animal transport in Madagascar, you will also need to provide :

  • import authorization, obtained before arrival, issued by the Sanitaire Veterinary office ;
  • veterinary health certificate issued by an official veterinarian in place of origin. This certificate must be issued maximum 15 days before arrival. It must give information on the owner and complete description of the animal; it must specify the animal is in good health and that area of origin has been free from any infectious disease ;
  • for dogs over 3 months and cats over 6 months old, the certificate must also confirm that they have been vaccinated against rabies.

Please note : Animals may be quarantined on arrival.


Attention: the transport of American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiller and Tosa is prohibited on all destinations served by Corsair.
The transport of animals in the cabin is prohibited to / from Mauritius.
Specific conditions for the transport of Bull mastiffs, Bull terriers, Cane Corso, German Dogs, Argentine Dogs, Bordeaux Dogs, Fila Brasileiro, Fila de Sao Miguel, Fila de Naples and Canary Dogs or Presa Canario: the owner or passenger travelling with the dog must be of age.
The owner must justify to the registration of the breed of the animal by a birth certificate a pedigree or the LOF (Livre des Origines Français, is the register created in 1885 where the origins of French breed dogs are listed), issued by the canine central society.

Conditions of carriage:

Cages approved and accepted by Corsair ?

(A)The door must have a central locking system that locks the two locking points
simultaneously at the top and bottom of the door.
(B)The door hinges must be at least 1.6 cm horizontal ledge above and below
the door.
(C)The two parts of the hull required to be maintained by bolts. Any other means
of fastening side is strictly prohibited.
The animal must be able to stand, head fully erect, without touching the top of
the box. It must also be able to turn around and lie down comfortably.

Non-compliant cages and non accepted by Corsair :

Corsair would like to inform you that we no longer sell cages at our departure points.
You can carry up to two pets in the same cage, as long as they are of similar weight and breed, and used to living together. The maximum weight of the each animal must not exceed 14kg.
You will have to pay the allowance fee twice, one for each animal.

Your pet is not included in your cabin luggage allowance, so you will need to pay the following allowance fee.
